"During the course of my surfboard building career I always leaned toward making less volume and greater quality. Surfboard constructions were generally simple and I needed a place to evolve without straying too far from the love of my life.
Since
grade school I made wooden skimboards and skimmed madly when the
surf was poor. In early high school master skimboarder Christian
McCuen talked me into creating my first "foam skimboard" company
and he named it "Fusion Juice" skimboards. I then won many contests
as team captain of Ocean Breeze skimboards in the 90's.
After that I specialized in making exotic epoxy, balsa stringered, channel bottomed surf skimboards under the Pearson Arrow label. Thats also when I started hosting a competitive team. I then moved on to build hundreds of sophisticated vinyl ester vacuum molded custom boards alongside master builder Pete Rodgers. By 2002 I was given the pumps and rocker tables of Riptide to do with as I pleased and that meant go berserk! We built boards with racing yacht foam cores, signature grab-rail stringers, the "living tendon" rail stringer system, exotic shapes, astonishing hand drawn artwork, texture decks and many other never before seen inventions from the mad scientist of skim.
Most important, like all of my board companies since the early 80's, the use of significant concave bottom contours derived directly from my surfboard designs has transformed the face of skimboards as the world has known them."
